Please note that if you are placing an order with us this spring, that shipping will take 4-6 weeks
to receive your order. We have taken several hundred
orders over the winter and those are going to be shipped first in the order received.
When those orders are completed we will start on the orders
placed this spring. We will do our best to get all orders shipped as soon as possible, but the weather
plays the biggest role in that.
Thanks for your understanding, David and Laura Burris.

It has been brought to my attention by some of our customers that there is another daylily nursery trying to pass off some of there seedlings as some of our new Mahieu-Burris intros because of like parentages. This is totally undermining the system plant societies have honored for over 100 years in which the individual cultivars are selected, registered and introduced into commerce by the hybridizer/introducer. This is the only way to insure that any particular cultivar is true to name. Anyone who has hybridized daylilies knows, that there is can be great variation or similarity within a cross. Even the hybridizer can be hard pressed to differentiate between full siblings. So for another nursery to even attempt to sell a new cultivar before it has even been released from the originator, and assuming they have something because of like parentages, is unthinkable and immoral. Let me make it very clear that what they are doing is completely dishonest and fraudulent . Rest assured that the only way to get any of our NEW INTRO'S, before they are released, whether it be Mahieu-Burris or Burris intro's is to order them directly from us here at Bluegrass Gardens Daylily Farm. Of course after they are released initially, then they will be available on the secondary market as any others are. This was a very bold move on this nurseries part, and one that can only be described as totally dishonest and unethical, just for monetary gain. Brian and Tom, and Laura and Myself , want you, our customers to have the utmost faith in what you are buying from us and that's why we felt the need to make this statement. If you are ever in doubt of the authenticity, of a plant on the secondary market, that was introduced by Brian, Laura, or myself, please don't hesitate to email or call us with your concerns. We want to always make sure you get what you pay for. Thanks to YOU, our loyal customers, we are able to stop unethical people from doing things of this nature, and will continue to strive to bring you the quality plants you have come to know from Brian Mahieu and Bluegrass Gardens Daylily Farm. Your friends in flowers, David and Laura Burris, and Brian Mahieu and Tom Harris. |
Here are our 4 new Burris intro's for 2008. Please click on the pictures below to go directly to the details page and a close-up of the flowers. All names are pending approval. Brushed By Bluebirds Brushed By Bluebirds is one of my best registrations I have to date. This plant has perhaps the clearest blue eye of any other daylily I have ever seen anywhere. The clear rich royal purple color is a beautiful contrast against the blue eye and near white throat. This daylily is an extremely important color break and will sell out very fast. I'm increasing it to meet the demand by having it lined out and will probably line it out one more time before it's release. If I cannot meet the demand for it at release time I will more than likely hold it until the fall or the following spring. For more of the details on this wonderful new breakthrough click HERE or go to the 2007 intro's tab at the top of this page. Update...BBB is released and available as a 2007 introduction. It is very limited and will go fast. When I dug BBB up this fall to line out and to pot up, I noticed it had huge kwanso - like roots and was very rhizomates as well. This was very exciting to see after noting how well it performed this summer in the worst drought and heat conditions on record ever for our region. When others were withering away in the heat, BBB kept right on going and flourishing. It is pod fertile and extremely pollen fertile. Some of the F-1 seedlings out of BBB are stunning to say the least. Many of them even better than BBB. This plant is an a must have for the hybridizer wanting to get clear blues.
