Description:
Mahieu Diploid 96-171 A [TRAHLYTA X SPANISH FANDANGO] 34 ML RE 6.5 DOR FR NOC EXT, 3 way branching 14 buds Named for a tropical viper with garish triangular markings, this pale taupe reverse bitone has HUGE triangular violet bands on the petals. The sepals match the etching at the edge of the layered band. Throat color is lemon to chartreuse. There is a cream picotee on the sepals. The low bud count is redeemed by rebloom in zone 5! I used SPANISH FANDANGO as Rosemary Whitacre told me it was a source for the "beading gene". This plant could be crossed with other diploids that have textural edges to enhance the trait. Fertile both ways.
